Human Agency
People should stay in control of their choices, even when algorithms suggest what to watch, buy, think, or do.
Erasmus+ digital wellbeing toolkit
Stay human in the age of algorithms.
A practical Erasmus+ toolkit that helps young people notice how AI and algorithms shape attention, identity, wellbeing, and connection.
Created for an Erasmus+ training course on technology, identity, wellbeing, and human connection.
Project Overview
ReConnect was created for the Erasmus+ training course “Beyond Algorithms”. It looks at how algorithms and AI shape young people’s wellbeing, identity, choices, and relationships. The goal is not to reject technology, but to use it with more awareness, confidence, and intention.
Course Theme
The toolkit is built around the main ideas of the Beyond Algorithms course: staying human, thinking critically, protecting wellbeing, and using AI as support instead of a replacement for our own judgment.
People should stay in control of their choices, even when algorithms suggest what to watch, buy, think, or do.
Technology should support mental health, focus, and balance, not only attention and engagement.
Young people should reflect on how online spaces influence self-image, confidence, and values.
Users should question recommendations, AI answers, and online content before accepting them.
Digital tools should help people connect meaningfully, not replace real relationships.
AI can be useful when it supports learning, creativity, and reflection without replacing human thinking.
Project Framework
Each tool follows a simple project logic: Target, Scenario, Interaction, Insight, and Action. These steps show who the tool is for, what situation it responds to, what the user does, what they notice, and what healthier step they can take next.
Young people who use social media, AI tools, and recommendation platforms in their daily lives.
A user feels distracted, anxious, influenced, or disconnected after spending time with algorithmic feeds or AI tools.
The tools ask questions, show reflection prompts, and help users notice how technology affects their emotions and choices.
Users realize that algorithms and AI can influence attention, identity, wellbeing, relationships, and behavior.
Users choose one healthier next step, such as taking a break, questioning a recommendation, using AI responsibly, or reconnecting with a real person.
The Challenge
Algorithms can influence what young people see, compare themselves to, believe, and feel. Many platforms are built to hold attention, which can turn a quick check into passive scrolling, comparison, anxiety, or distance from real people.
Process
ReConnect helps users move from automatic digital habits to intentional digital choices. The tools follow a clear path: notice, reflect, question, choose, and reconnect.
Recognize how a digital experience made you feel.
Connect your online habit with your emotions, identity, or relationships.
Ask whether the algorithm, platform, or AI tool is helping or influencing you.
Decide what action supports your wellbeing and autonomy.
Return to yourself, another person, or a healthier digital space.
Digital Tools
Six interactive tools that help users pause, read their digital habits, question algorithmic influence, and choose a healthier next step.
Choose a tool to try:
Check in with your mood after a digital experience and choose one small reset.
Best for: noticing how digital platforms affect feelings
Look at what your feed keeps repeating and what that pattern may be doing to you.
Best for: understanding how recommendations shape identity
Decide how AI can support your work without taking over your thinking.
Best for: using AI without replacing human thinking
Choose a short challenge that helps you interrupt scrolling and reset your attention.
Best for: reducing passive scrolling
Turn a digital feeling into a real conversation with someone who matters.
Best for: starting meaningful conversations
Investigate an AI answer, search result, or recommendation before trusting it.
Best for: questioning algorithmic decisions
Personal Plan
When you save a result from any tool, it appears here as a small, practical step toward healthier and more intentional digital habits.

Impact Context
ReConnect is not about rejecting algorithms or AI. It is about helping young people stay aware, critical, and human while digital technology becomes part of everyday life.
Recommendation systems decide what appears first, what repeats, and what keeps users engaged.
AI can support creativity and understanding, but it should not replace personal thinking or responsibility.
Online comparison, passive scrolling, and constant notifications can influence mood, confidence, and focus.
Young people can pause, question, and choose how they want to use technology.
Presentation Summary
ReConnect is a one-page digital toolkit created for the Erasmus+ training course “Beyond Algorithms”. It helps young people explain, in a simple way, how algorithms and AI can influence emotions, identity, attention, learning, and relationships.
Young people often use algorithmic platforms and AI tools automatically, without noticing how they affect mood, choices, self-image, and human connection.
The toolkit is designed for young people who use social media, AI tools, search engines, recommendation feeds, and digital platforms in daily life.
The website offers six interactive tools that ask reflection questions and suggest small, realistic actions.
Algorithms and AI can be useful, but humans should stay aware, critical, responsible, and in control of their choices.
Website Guide
This website works as an interactive learning toolkit. Users can read the project idea, connect it to the course themes, and try six small tools that turn reflection into action.
Start with the project explanation to understand how algorithms and AI influence young people’s lives.
Try each tool in the Digital Tools Gallery to explore a different reflection activity.
Choose the answers that best match your digital experience, mood, or concern.
Use the suggested action to make a healthier and more intentional digital choice.
Impact
The final takeaway is simple: algorithms do more than recommend content. They can shape emotions, identity, relationships, and behavior. ReConnect helps users pause, reflect, and choose a healthier next action.
